MOCICC participated in the Climate Change World Conference and the Rights of Mother Earth

Meeting was held in Cochabamba, Bolivia

* It Was considered a referendum for citizens to speak out against Climate Change

* Only a new way of life that reconciles us to nature and human beings, we will address the root causes of Global Warming and Climate Change

The Citizens' Movement against Climate Change (MOCICC) participated in the Climate Change World Conference on and the Rights of the Mother Earth that took place in the town of Tiquipaya, Cochabamba, Bolivia.

This conference was convened by the government of Bolivian President Evo Morales in response to the failure of the World Summit on Climate Change held in December in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The conference in Cochabamba, involve 35 000 delegates from social organizations, activists and independent experts from 142 countries.

"In Cochabamba citizens around the world have joined the indigenous message for humanity to adopt a respectful way of life of our Mother Earth and solidarity between human beings and because at the next summit in Cancun to reach agreements fair and binding to tackle climate change, "she said from Cochabamba, Rocío Valdeavellano, MOCICC coordinator.

During the UN summit in Copenhagen and social organizations as the MOCICC raised the 45% reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions from industrialized countries that produce the global warming. It was also required to transfer without conditions, grant funding for adaptation and mitigation to the affected countries such as Peru. However, no concrete agreements were reached to address this global threat.

Some of the conclusions of this conference was the impetus of an International Court of Justice Environmental and proposed a referendum for citizens to speak out against Climate Change.
